7 Reasons You Should Join PSE

If you’re brand new to UGA, or even if it’s your fourth go round, you probably don’t have this whole college thing and being an adult figured out. Maybe you’ve switched majors three times, you can’t quite swing that summer internship you’ve been dreaming of, or maybe you just want a new group of people to have fun with. Believe it or not, you’re not alone--there’s an organization that’s perfect for you!

There’s no shame in wanting something to add to your resume and impress employers. But it’s a little embarrassing when an interviewer asks you to elaborate on something you did, and you have nothing to say. PSE will not only add a line to your ‘experience’ but it will give you something you can actually talk about.

A wise man once said, "Work Hard, Play Hard." PSE will empower you to build your professional skills and put you closer to a career, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun doing it. PSE hosts Semi-Formals and Formals, Braves Date Nights, Oktoberfest, potluck dinners, and more.

If you've ever shown up to an interview in jeans and your best UGA t-shirt, you might need to work on your professional skills. PSE hosts regular professional development workshops where you can learn interview techniques, networking tips, and perfect your resume. You'll amaze people with how professional you are.

Do you enjoy feeding less fortunate children? Playing with puppies at the Athens Humane Society? Organizing a 1200 person establishment crawl that benefits organizations like Make a Wish and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta? One of PSE's most important values is giving back to the community and volunteering on a regular basis.

If you haven't already heard, finding a job is often about who you know. Every other week PSE is joined by companies recruiting for internships and careers in sales, marketing, finance, and other business related positions--and they often come to hire PSE members specifically. Career fairs and networking events can be scary, but PSE will make it a little easier with practice.

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the only business organization on campus that competes with other chapters across the country in Sales Competitions, Speaking Competitions, and Marketing and Management Case Study Competitions. Every year, over 60 PSE Chapters come together at Regional and National Conventions to compete against one another for top prizes and of course, glory. If you've never competed in 'professional' events before, don't worry. Gamma organizes internal competitions as well as hosts the Terry Sales Competition, so you can come in prepared.

Are you interested in having a job after college? Gamma currently stands at a perfect record when it comes to its members receiving job offers post-graduation. PSE graduates receive propositions from an impressive list of companies; such as IBM, Newell Brands, and Georgia Pacific. Not only will you be fully prepared to be an excellent employee, but you'll actually get asked to be someone's employee.

There are many opportunities to get involved on campus, but if you're looking for a way to gain professional experience as well as a social life, Pi Sigma Epsilon could be the perfect fit for you. If you want to learn more, come out to the Info Session Tuesday, August 30th at 7pm in MLC 101. Papa Johns pizza will be making a special appearance, and we'll also be joined by the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly who is currently recruiting. We look forward to seeing you!
